“Sunset is the best time of day to swim,” Makri says. “The direct sun in Patmos is too hot, so I wait until afternoon then head to the beach. The water is delightful.”
“When I designed the thread band in my Classic Collection I wanted the pieces tthinner, thinner, thinner!’” Ileana recalls. “My manufacturer begged, ‘Please, Ileana, it’s too thin! He gave me what I wanted and I wore it for a week before it broke. OK, so he was right. But we worked together until I had the thinness I wanted with the strength it needed.”
