LILY

The lily, a timeless 3,500-year-old religious symbol, referred to originally in Minoan Crete. The revolution of 1821 is inextricably linked to the day of the Annunciation of the Virgin, where the lily plays a dominant symbolic role. Its shape symbolizes fertility, its leaves evoke humility and its white color expresses purity, honesty & peace. Perhaps the most ideal symbol for a year of "rebirth".

ΚΡΙΝΟΣ

Ο κρίνος, ένα διαχρονικό θρησκευτικό σύμβολο 3.500 ετών, αναφέρεται αρχικά στη μινωική Κρήτη. Η επανάσταση του 1821 συνδέεται άρρηκτα με την ημέρα του Ευαγγελισμού της Θεοτόκου, όπου ο κρίνος διαδραματίζει κυρίαρχο συμβολικό ρόλο. Το σχήμα του συμβολίζει τη γονιμότητα, τα φύλλα του παραπέμπουν στην ταπεινοφροσύνη και το λευκό του χρώμα εκφράζει την αγνότητα, την καθαρότητα, την εντιμότητα, την ειρήνη. Ίσως το πλέον ιδανικό σύμβολο για μία χρονιά «αναγέννησης».
